<body>DayOne Data Centers, a leading Singapore-based data centre operator, has secured MYR15 billion (US$3.5 billion) of multicurrency dual-tranche financing to support its green data centres in Johor, Malaysia, marking its biggest-ever loan.  The financing includes MYR7.5 billion in Murabaha Islamic financing and a US$1.7 billion offshore term loan facility, tapping both liquidity from onshore bank market and offshore lenders. The deal attracted strong interest from local and international banks, achieving an oversubscription of two times. Proceeds will fund refinancing and capital expenditures for DayOne’s data centres that are expected to obtain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable digital infrastructure.  DayOne’s anchor data centre campuses will be located at Nusajaya and Kempas Tech Parks in the state of Johor, and will be part of investments into the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. Johor is emerging as a strategic data centre hub in Southeast Asia, capitalising on its proximity to Singapore, to meet the rising demand for artificial intelligence. <body>This transaction comprises two tranches, including a non-call 5.5-year tranche of US$1.5 billion and a non-call 10.5-year tranche of US$1.5 billion.MTR Corporation (MTR), the majority government-owned public transport operator in Hong Kong, also operating in other regions, has priced a US$3 billion issuance of subordinated perpetual hybrid securities on 16 June 2025. The transaction was the largest USD corporate subordinated perpetual securities in Asia ex. Japan, underlining global investor confidence in MTR and the sector’s prospect in Hong Kong.Hybrid securities are securities that feature both debt (borrowing money from an external source) and equity characteristics (raising money by selling shares). One common example of hybrid securities is subordinated perpetual bonds, in which investors that hold a higher seniority of the bond gets paid out first.Crédit Agricole CIB acted as Joint Global Coordinator and the sole bank responsible for deal structuring and ratings process on this landmark transaction. The securities are rated “A” by S&P Global Ratings and “A2” by Moody’s Ratings, which are the highest issue ratings ever achieved for a USD subordinated perpetual issuance globally.Proceeds raised will be used to for general operational purposes and continue to support MTR in future infrastructure projects. <body>The Carbon Transport and Storage project in UK’s Liverpool Bay area will operate as the backbone of the HyNet Cluster to transport carbon dioxide from capture plants across the North West of England and North Wales, through new and repurposed infrastructure to safe and permanent storage in Eni’s depleted natural gas reservoirs, located under the seabed in Liverpool Bay. The initiative foresees the efficient repurposing of part of the offshore platforms as well as 149km of onshore and offshore pipelines, and the construction of 35km of new pipelines to connect industrial emitters to the Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) network.In this milestone deal, Crédit Agricole CIB acted as Sole Financial Advisor, Mandated Lead Arranger and Hedging Bank in the financing of the construction.The project is the first of a kind in the Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) industry. Aiming to transform one of the UK's most energy-intensive industrial areas into one of the first low-carbon industrial clusters in the world, it is a landmark transaction that represents a key advancement in the development of the CCUS industry globally and highlights Crédit Agricole CIB’s strong commitment to support clients in their energy transition journeys. <body>Taiwanese semiconductor technology company GlobalWafers successfully completed a 60 million Danish kroner (approximately €8 million) green financing with Crédit Agricole CIB acting as the sole green agent and sole lender. Proceeds of the green financing will be invested in Topsil GlobalWafers A/S (Topsil), a Danish subsidiary of GlobalWafers, to support its construction of solar power plants, representing a major milestone in global wafer green manufacturing for GlobalWafers.Inaugurated in January 2025, Topsil is the world’s first sustainable crystal-growing manufacturing facility to operate on 100% self-generated low carbon electricity (Source: GlobalWafers). By constructing a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 10 million watts, the facility is capable to generate 9.88 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually – exceeding the energy consumption of Topsil. This investment enables Topsil to operate with self-generated green power, while any surplus solar power will be fed back to the Danish community.Since officially participating in the RE100, an international business initiative that brings together corporates committed to using 100% renewable electricity, GlobalWafers has been dedicated to running completely on renewable energy across all its global operating sites. <body>On 5 March 2025, Crédit Agricole CIB supported Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP), South Korea’s largest electric power company, in issuing a HK$1.166 billion international green nuclear bond – the first-of-its-kind in Asia. Proceeds of this green nuclear bond will be used for the research and development (R&D) investments focused on enhancing the safety of nuclear power plants and developing next-generation nuclear technologies. Crédit Agricole CIB acted as the Sole Dealer for this landmark transaction. This transaction not only marks a significant milestone in South Korea’s journey towards a sustainable energy future, but it also underscores Crédit Agricole CIB’s exceptional expertise in mobilising sustainable capital for nuclear energy projects. Notably, Crédit Agricole CIB played a pivotal role in <a @href="https://www.ca-cib.com/en/news/edf-and-credit-agricole-cib-sign-financing-agreement-dedicated-maintenance-french-nuclear">EDF’s first euro green bond with proceeds financing nuclear capital expenditures</a>, and served as the Sole Green Structuring Agent for <a @href="https://www.constellationenergy.com/newsroom/2024/Constellation-Offers-Nations-First-Corporate-Green-Bond-for-Nuclear-Energy.html">the United States’ inaugural corporate green bond that can be utilised to finance nuclear projects for Constellation</a>. Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy is one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Nuclear power plays a critical role in Korea’s sustainable energy grid, contributing approximately 28% of the country’s total electricity generation and is integral to the government’s plan to increase this proportion to 35% by 2036. As South Korea’s sole nuclear generation company, KHNP is instrumental in facilitating this objective through continuous R&D efforts aimed at strengthening core technologies and safety capabilities in nuclear power plants.  In conjunction with the issuance, Crédit Agricole CIB also supported KHNP in updating its green bond framework that outlines eligibility criteria for nuclear R&D projects. The eligibility criteria reference technical thresholds for nuclear economies activities defined in the Korean Green Taxonomy (K-Taxonomy), published by the Ministry of Environment, and the EU Taxonomy. A separate Nuclear Bond Register has been created to track the proceeds of green nuclear bond issuances, ensuring full traceability and distinction from other green bond issuances. Post-issuance, KHNP is committed to publishing an annual progress report and will seek independent external verification of the allocation of proceeds and their impacts until full allocation of proceeds is achieved.  KHNP’s green bond framework received a positive second-party opinion (SPO) from Moody’s Investor Service, attaining a ‘SQS1 (Excellent)’ score – the highest possible sustainability quality rating in Moody’s SPO methodology. To date, only about 9% of issuers worldwide have achieved a SQS1 rating, making this the first framework with nuclear power-related use of proceeds to receive such recognition.
