"M&A Deal of the Year"

The Bank was also recognised, in its capacity as sole sell-side M&A and debt financial advisor, and mandated lead arranger, for the sale of Hornsea 2, which was named M&A Deal of the Year.

Hornsea 2 is the world’s largest offshore wind farm, with a full-capacity yield of over 1.3 GW. The wind farm will meet the energy needs of 1.4 million households, or more than 3 million people.

This is a key project that will support the UK government’s goal to reach 40 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

PFI also awarded the Deal of the Year prizes to the Bank for its major transactions in a number of regions in 2022.

Americas:
 

  • High-voltage transmission line project: Champlain Hudson

Champlain Hudson Power Express is a 545 km and 1,250 MW fully underground high-voltage transmission line that will convey hydroelectric power produced by Hydro-Québec from the Canadian border to New York City.

Under a 40-year contract, the project once completed will allow reduction of CO2 emissions by 34 million tonnes per year and air pollutant emissions by around 30%.

Crédit Agricole CIB acted as mandated lead arranger and hedging bank for $5.6 billion.

  • Metro line project (transport): São Paulo line 6

Sponsored by Acciona, Société Générale, STOA and Transdev, the Orange metro line 6 project received non-recourse financing of approximately $1.3 billion.

The construction of the line is of crucial social importance for the region, as it will connect low-income neighbourhoods to downtown São Paulo.

The Bank acted as mandated lead arranger for the bank guarantee to complete the financing of this sustainable project.

Asia Pacific:
 

  • Sustainable project: Renew Power

This hybrid renewable portfolio, featuring wind, solar and battery storage technologies to achieve round-the-clock (RTC) energy generation, is India’s largest renewable project (1,300 MW) and largest facility (USD1 billion) for a single energy programme.

It is in line with the Indian government's 2030 renewable energy target and Renew Power's ambition to drive the energy transition in India and the region.

The Bank acted as the Joint Mandated Lead Arranger and Hedging Bank.

  • LNG project: Pluto

Crédit Agricole CIB acted as a Mandated Lead Arranger, Hedge Coordinator and Bookrunner to the USD 3 484 million construction/term facility funding GIP’s acquisition of a 49% interest in the Pluto Train 2 LNG project.

The project is being developed by Woodside Petroleum to process gas from the Scarborough gas field via a 5 Mtpa brownfield expansion of Pluto LNG with the construction of Train 2 at a cost of USD 5.5 billion.

Scarborough gas has very low CO2 content (an important project in the transition to a low carbon future.

  • Public-private partnership (PPP): Frankston Hospital

Crédit Agricole CIB acted as joint Mandated Lead Arranger, Sustainability Loan Coordinator and Hedge Provider to the AUD 1 081 million financing of the Frankston Hospital (in Melbourne), with capacity for 443 beds and supporting facilities.

The Project is being developed under a PPP concession with the State of Victoria. The financing comprises of AUD 1 081 million of facilities, all documented under a sustainable finance framework.

Europe :
 

  • Public-private partnership (PPP): Sotra

Crédit Agricole CIB successfully financed its first public-private partnership (PPP) motorway project in Norway, as mandated lead manager for a total financing of approximately NOK 8 billion.

The RV555 motorway is the fifth PPP project attributed by the Norwegian Public Roads Authority. It includes the development of some 40 km of roads, a four-lane bridge measuring 900 metres long, and four new twin-tube road tunnels.

The project is considered as an essential infrastructure for the continued and sustainable growth of the region, aimed at improving the security and regularity of transport in the country.

  • Financing for the roll-out of fibre in Germany: Deutsche Glasfaser

The Bank was awarded the Europe Fibre Deal of the Year distinction for its transaction with Deutsche Glasfaser, a German telecommunications company. Deutsche Glasfaser secured a €5.75 billion loan to finance its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) roll-out plan and refinance its outstanding debt.

This is the largest FTTH debt financing in Germany to date and the second largest in Europe.

Crédit Agricole CIB acted as joint financial advisor on the transaction, as well as sustainable development advisor, underwriter, bookrunner and transaction coordinator.

  • Energy recovery project: Riverside 2

Riverside 2 is a waste-to-energy project in south-east London. The plant is ideally located for the treatment and recovery of waste from the UK capital.

As a key asset of the circular economy, it will be able to process 650,000 tonnes of waste and produce 58 MW of electricity, enough to supply over 150,000 households.

The Bank acted as mandated lead arranger in the £500 million financing.
