To support the city’s development into a green and sustainable finance hub in the region and encourage more issuance of green and sustainability related financial instruments, the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA), a non-profit-distributing organisation by the Hong Kong SAR Government, rolls out every year the Hong Kong Green and Sustainable Finance Awards.
Crédit Agricole CIB is pleased to have received the following two recognitions in the category of Global Financing Service sector.
Outstanding Award for Green and Sustainable Deposit Facilitator – Visionary ESG-linked Deposit Service
This award acknowledges the novel ESG-linked corporate savings account the Bank launched in 2023.
Different from other green account offerings where the cash collected will be used to refinance green projects, this new product is a cash management solution that enables corporates to earn a higher yield on their account balances as they improve their ESG performance. It incentivises the depositors to rethink their traditional approach of managing liquidity and financial plans by aiming to motivate clients to proactively and continuously realise their ESG goals through recurring monetary incentives in the long-term.
Initially tested in Hong Kong, the product is now being offered throughout the Asia-Pacific region, where it has already received positive feedback from corporates in various sectors. These include a number of Hong Kong-based visionary corporates – conglomerate NWS Holdings, the city’s public utility provider Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), constructor Jardine Engineering, as well as China Aircraft Leasing Group. This award acknowledges Crédit Agricole CIB’s first places in the global league tables:
- Sustainability Coordinator of sustainable loans with a total of 100 deals in Q2 2022-Q1 2023, according to Environmental Finance Sustainable Loans Insight 2023.
- Number of green and sustainability-linked loans globally in 2022 with 84 deals, according to Dealogic.
The introduction of the ESG-linked account and a strong record in facilitating ESG transactions illustrate the Bank's ongoing commitment to promoting green and sustainable banking through ESG solutions.
