Best Investment Grade Syndicated Loan

Airport Authority Hong Kong’s HK$35bn ($4.5bn) dual-tranche loan

Helped by the government’s 100% ownership, AAHK proved that it enjoys the same support during difficult periods. The deal, which is the largest loan syndication in the city this year, also included an innovative feature. It was the first corporate syndicated loan in Hong Kong that was compliant with the Equator Principles, ticking the ESG box.

Best Leveraged/Acquisition Finance & Best Loan

$600m dual-tranche loan for Hexaware Technologies’ take-private by Baring Private Equity Asia Will open in a new tab

After being hit by a downgrade by Moody’s in April, this Indian software firm’s bonds tumbled in secondary trading. Barings announced plans in June to delist Hexaware from the Indian stock exchange and the result was a dual-tranche loan, split between a $383m tranche for refinancing and a $217m portion for privatisation. The Private Equity firm showed its confidence in Hexaware’s business by boosting the privatisation offer to Rp475 per share from Rp285.
