Crédit Agricole CIB supports the largest green project finance transaction for a single data centre in Malaysia

Acting as Global Coordinator and Green Loan Coordinator, Crédit Agricole CIB supports AirTrunk to secure US$ 2.325 billion in green financing for the sustainable development of its JHB2 data centre campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. 

This landmark transaction sets a few benchmarks:

• Malaysia’s largest green project finance transaction for a single data centre
• AirTrunk’s largest single-asset financing to date

The Bank has worked closely with AirTrunk to deliver a financing structure that supports responsible digital infrastructure growth while setting a new standard for sustainable digital infrastructure across Southeast Asia. 

The funding of this project will facilitate the development of AirTrunk’s JHB2 campus, underpinning Malaysia’s growing cloud and AI economy responsibly by aiming to achieve industry-leading energy and water efficiency through innovative cooling technologies. This transaction will also support AirTrunk’s social impact programme in Malaysia with margin savings allocated to community initiatives including recycled water programmes, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education and disaster relief.

This milestone deal demonstrates how sustainable finance can foster the development of efficient digital infrastructure, while bringing measurable environmental results and long-term positive impacts for local society.
