A long-lasting commitment to Hong Kong
Having established its first office in Hong Kong in 1894 and gained a deep understanding of local market dynamics over the past 130 years, the Crédit Agricole group is one of the city oldest registered banks and presently offers:
- corporate and investment banking services via Crédit Agricole CIB,
- asset management solutions via Amundi,
- wealth management services via Indosuez Wealth Management.
Despite a challenging environment in recent years, and throughout its long-standing presence, Crédit Agricole CIB kept investing in the world’s third and Asia-Pacific’s first financial center, and has continued to grow, now boasting a workforce of more than 600 staff members.
To support clients in their development, the Bank has broadened its spectrum of financing and investment solutions, including innovative instruments notably in ESG. It has firmly established itself as a leading foreign bank, a top house in financial markets and sustainable banking, and a specialist in HKD and CNH local debt financing for both local and international clients.
Actively supporting connectivity with Mainland China and as a key contributor to the RMB internationalisation, Crédit Agricole CIB is one of the most active foreign banks in the bond- and swap-connect programmes between Hong Kong and mainland China facilitating flows between investors.
A trusted and recognised partner in sustainable finance from the outset
Building on strong relationship with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Crédit Agricole CIB has greatly contributed to the city’s development as a green and sustainable finance centre and a reference for sustainability in the region and globally. The Bank has supported all eight of its ground-breaking institutional green bond issuances since 2019, including tokenised/digital bonds, and totaling more than USD23 billion equivalent, making Hong Kong the largest green bond issuer in Asia.
Supporting the local economy and its energy transition pathway also includes the formulation of ESG strategy and framework as well as financing programme for local corporates across sectors including government bodies, aviation, transportation, data centre and telecom, among others.
Eager to share its experience and drive sustainable finance in emerging markets, the Bank has partnered with the HKMA on the Asian chapter of the Alliance for Green Commercial Banks, a global initiative of the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group. Crédit Agricole CIB is the co-author of the first sustainable finance thought leadership paper issued by The Alliance.
For two consecutive years, Euromoney has named Crédit Agricole CIB ‘Hong Kong’s Best Bank for ESG’, and granted Hong Kong Green and Sustainable Finance Awards recognising the Bank as sustainable deposit and loan facilitator in 2023.
Looking ahead, Crédit Agricole CIB Hong Kong is committed to upholding our motto -
working every day in the interest of our customers and society.
