CACIB successfully arranges a US$1.25bn Green Term Loan for Ternium México
CACIB closed a US$1.25bn 5-Year Delayed Draw Green Term Loan Facility for Ternium México S.A. de C.V. (“Ternium México”) as active Joint Bookrunner, Joint Lead Arranger and Administrative Agent.
This was a landmark transaction to support Ternium’s ambitious capex plan to meet growing demand and accelerate its decarbonization roadmap. The instrumental and visible leading role played by CACIB in this transaction despite a very competitive bidding process demonstrates the strong relationship with Ternium as a Prime Client, in which CACIB has previously acted in lead roles for the Company’s prior facilities, including but not limited to Ternium Mexico’s US$1.0bn Term Loan Facility executed in 2018 and Ternium Brazil US$500mm guaranteed Pre-Export Finance Facility closed in 2019.
Ternium Mexico is a leading flat and long steel manufacturer based in Monterrey, with total annual finished steel production capacity of approximately 11.0 million tons. In addition, Ternium Mexico has iron ore mining / pelletizing operations.
The Financing supports a pivotal expansion at Pesqueria that will strengthen Ternium’s regional supply chain, boost its competitiveness under USMCA, and advance its decarbonization strategy. It is a highly positive step in the Company’s long-term growth.

Despite an extremely competitive bidding process for the leading arrangement role, CACIB was able to position itself with other top tier international banks in the underwriting, structuring and syndication of this landmark transaction for Ternium Mexico. This Financing was innovative in the steel sector as it incorporated green loan features, supporting the Company’s strong focus on its decarbonization strategy.
