<body>The Carbon Transport and Storage project in UK’s Liverpool Bay area will operate as the backbone of the HyNet Cluster to transport carbon dioxide from capture plants across the North West of England and North Wales, through new and repurposed infrastructure to safe and permanent storage in Eni’s depleted natural gas reservoirs, located under the seabed in Liverpool Bay. The initiative foresees the efficient repurposing of part of the offshore platforms as well as 149km of onshore and offshore pipelines, and the construction of 35km of new pipelines to connect industrial emitters to the Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) network.In this milestone deal, Crédit Agricole CIB acted as Sole Financial Advisor, Mandated Lead Arranger and Hedging Bank in the financing of the construction.The project is the first of a kind in the Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) industry. Aiming to transform one of the UK's most energy-intensive industrial areas into one of the first low-carbon industrial clusters in the world, it is a landmark transaction that represents a key advancement in the development of the CCUS industry globally and highlights Crédit Agricole CIB’s strong commitment to support clients in their energy transition journeys. Furthermore, it benefits from one of the most supportive regulatory regimes in the world developed by the UK Government. As Crédit Agricole CIB commits to striving for excellence, the Bank has broken its records in debt capital markets in 2024 – reaching top 3 in Investment Grade bonds for G3 currencies in Asia, consistently maintaining top 2 in green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked bonds in Hong Kong, as well as top-ranking positions in HKD and CNH bonds league tables, while being one of the most active foreign banks in the Southbound Bond Connect and Swap Connect schemes. The Bank also achieved continued success in deploying its novel ESG-linked deposit account, which has expanded into six Asia-Pacific markets within one year. <body>Taiwanese semiconductor technology company GlobalWafers successfully completed a 60 million Danish kroner (approximately €8 million) green financing with Crédit Agricole CIB acting as the sole green agent and sole lender. Proceeds of the green financing will be invested in Topsil GlobalWafers A/S (Topsil), a Danish subsidiary of GlobalWafers, to support its construction of solar power plants, representing a major milestone in global wafer green manufacturing for GlobalWafers.Inaugurated in January 2025, Topsil is the world’s first sustainable crystal-growing manufacturing facility to operate on 100% self-generated low carbon electricity (Source: GlobalWafers). By constructing a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 10 million watts, the facility is capable to generate 9.88 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually – exceeding the energy consumption of Topsil. This investment enables Topsil to operate with self-generated green power, while any surplus solar power will be fed back to the Danish community.Since officially participating in the RE100, an international business initiative that brings together corporates committed to using 100% renewable electricity, GlobalWafers has been dedicated to running completely on renewable energy across all its global operating sites. The company has focused on optimising existing equipment, implementing energy-saving measures, and comprehensively applying various green solutions to increase the proportion of renewable energy utilisation.This green loan not only represents a significant milestone in advancing clean energy transitions and low-carbon technology development, but also underscores GlobalWafers’ commitment to establishing a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem – striving for a win-win outcome that balances environmental sustainability with economic benefits.Crédit Agricole CIB, with its strong international network, provides comprehensive financial services to clients around the world through a team of professionals across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.
