FinanceAsia recognises Crédit Agricole CIB with three sustainable finance house awards

FinanceAsia names Crédit Agricole CIB the Best International Sustainable Bank for Hong Kong SAR, Mainland China, and South Korea in its annual FinanceAsia Awards programme. This marks the second consecutive year that the Bank has won the FinanceAsia Best International Sustainable Bank for Mainland China and South Korea. The annual FinanceAsia Awards programme has been evaluating and recognising high-performing banks across Asia-Pacific markets for more than two decades.

As a bank with a long-standing history and commitment to sustainable finance, Crédit Agricole CIB’s expertise has earned the trust of the markets, making it a driving force in the sustainable finance space. With extensive dedicated resources, along with a comprehensive internal setup, our team is passionate about assisting our clients and markets in their transition journey.

In 2023, Crédit Agricole CIB advised landmark  ESG deals in Asia including the world’s first tokenised green bond for governments (the Hong Kong SAR Government tokenised green bond Will open in a new tab ). We also incorporated innovative structures to support clients when advising on their ESG financings, including a number of gender-equality and transition themed financings.

Milestone ESG financing innovation from Asia: The Asset picks Crédit Agricole CIB’s ESG-linked account

One of the notable ESG financing successes Crédit Agricole CIB had in Asia in 2023 was the launch of the ESG-linked corporate account solution, a one-of-a-kind cash management offering to motivate clients to progress towards sustainability via monetary incentives. Crédit Agricole CIB partnered with NWS Holdings, who shares a similar sustainability vision, to launch the pilot product.

Recently named ‘Best ESG Solution – Conglomerate – Hong Kong’ at The Asset Treasurise Awards 2024, the ESG-linked account demonstrates how Crédit Agricole CIB’s expertise in transaction banking and sustainable finance can create powerful synergy. The scalable product has been well-received in Hong Kong SAR and successfully deployed in mainland China and Taiwan.

In addition to providing sustainable financing solutions to clients, Crédit Agricole CIB promotes sustainable finance in universities, industry groups and client conferences to educate the public about sustainable finance. This includes working with the Nanyang Technology University in Singapore, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, as well as the UK Joint University Hong Kong Career Society, to inspire future generations to pursue careers in sustainable finance. Crédit Agricole CIB has also authored a thought leadership paper Will open in a new tab under the Alliance of Green Commercial Banks to share its experience in pioneering green banking practices.

“2023 was a rewarding year for sustainable banking in Crédit Agricole CIB. While we are deeply honoured by this recognition, we attribute our continued success to the strong partnership and support from our clients in pioneering benchmark sustainable finance products and setting frontier in the market – onwards and upwards!”
