Rexel wins "Club des Trente" award for the best financing transaction
On 19 May 2010, the “Club des Trente” awarded its prize for the best financing transaction in 2009 to Rexel, a global leader in the distribution of electrical supplies. The award recognises Rexel’s refinancing of its debt through two major transactions. Crédit Agricole CIB was the only bank to have acted as bookrunner in both transactions.
The first transaction was a 7-year, EUR 650 million bond which marked Rexel’s return to the bond markets at the end of 2009. The second was the renegotiation of its Senior Credit Agreement (EUR 1.7 billion with two 3-year and 5-year tranches).
The two transactions enabled Rexel to consolidate its creditworthiness, extend the maturity of its debt, improve its financing costs and increase its financial flexibility enabling it to return to the acquisition trail.
“Crédit Agricole CIB advised and supported Rexel across the board in its refinancing, senior credit renegotiation and securitisation program extension. This enabled our client to strengthen its financial structure, improve its liquidity and increase its room to maneuver within the framework of its development. This refinancing’s success makes it possible for Rexel to focus its actions and efforts on its businesses and growth model,” says Stéphane Publie, Senior Banker.Founded in 1973, the “Club des Trente” is made up of executives exercising or having exercised financial functions (chief executive officers, heads of finance, etc.) at major French companies. It rewards companies that have carried out the best financial transactions with regard to criteria of strategic consistency and taking into account the social, human, cultural, ecological and sustainable development aspects.
