Crédit Agricole CIB involved in the purchase of the third A380 by Air France
Crédit Agricole CIB signed a USD 130 million 12-year conditional sale financing for the third A380-800 acquired by Air France. The Bank acted, together with Natixis Transport Finance, as joint arranger while HSH joined as participant. This transaction comes after Crédit Agricole CIB arranged the first A380 delivered to Air France in October 2009.
The aircraft was delivered to the airline on April 14th. The financing was eventually put in place on April 26th for EUR 96.3 million.
Air France is the first European airline to offer flights by A380, the first airline in the world to offer transatlantic flights by A380 between Europe and the United States and the first airline to operate flights by A380 to Africa.
Crédit Agricole CIB is among the top core banks of Air France and Air France-KLM. Since 2009, the Bank arranged or jointly arranged the funds raising for EUR 2.5 billion for Air France-KLM via:
- EUR 661 million convertible bonds,
- EUR 700 million corporate bonds, EUR 550 million of aircraft financing (two A380 and two B777 under conditional sale, one B777under Eximbank guaranteed financing, one A330, five Embraer 190 under Japanese operating lease and one A320 under French Lease),
- extension of corporate facilities.
In addition, Crédit Agricole CIB is very active on derivatives (fuel, IRS, FX).
