Calyon acted for a major infrastructure project in Poland
Calyon acted as financial adviser and mandated lead arranger for Autostrada Wielkopolska II S.A. (AWSA). The transaction of EUR 1.56 billion has been realised for an A2 motorway Section II project in Poland. The main shareholders of the project are Kulczyk Holding, Strabag and Meridiam Infrastructure.
The transaction will finance the construction of the A2 motorway between Nowy Tomysl and Swiecko on the Polish-German border, as well as working capital requirements. The financing package consists of:
- a EUR 1 billion, 27 year European Investment Bank Facility,
- a EUR 400 million, 20 year Commercial Bank Facility provided by 9 international banks,
- a PLN 150 million VAT Facility.
The transaction is a major commercial success. It evidences the ability to raise long term debt financing for key projects in difficult market conditions.
The deal is the result of a successful collaboration of Calyon teams in Paris, Warsaw and London with AWSA and its additional financial advisor.
The A2 motorway forms an important part of the Trans European Network (“TEN”), which is a strategic transport corridor linking Berlin, Warsaw and Moscow. Section II will link Section I of the motorway with the German border.
