Calyon was involved as Joint Bookrunner, Mandated Lead Arranger, Documentation Agent and Administrative Agent for a project finance in Chile. The transaction consists in a USD 1.05 billion senior loan facility set up in favour of Minera Esperanza. The USD 2.3 billion copper-gold project was sponsored by Antofagasta Minerals (70%) and Marubeni (30%).

During the negotiations, Calyon acted as the coordinator for all lender groups as the financing was multi-sourced. For the overall project financing, Calyon was associated to nine other banks.

Antofagasta Minerals, one of the largest mining companies in Chile, is a company in the Luksic Group which is active in northern Chile in the sectors of metal processing, electric power distribution, agriculture, fishing, food processing and forestry.
