Calyon acted for a benchmark deal for KfW
Calyon was joint bookrunner for the third bond issue launched by KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) Bankengruppe in 2009.
The EUR 5 billion issue of bonds maturing in May 2012 was warmly welcomed by the markets. With this most recent transaction, KfW has thus far raised 50% of its planned EUR 75 billion in financing for 2009.
European investors subscribed for 83% of the deal, and of this amount 38% was subscribed by German investors. Banks, investment funds and central banks were the largest subscribers for respectively 62%, 16% and 12% of the issue.
KfW Bankengruppe is 80% owned by the Federal Republic of Germany and 20% by the Länder (Federal states). It ranks among Germany’s top 15 banks.
