Calyon acted as joint bookrunner of a benchmark bond for Verbund
On July 8, 2009 Verbund-International Finance B.V issued a EUR 840 million benchmark bond with a ten year tenor. The bond is guaranteed by Verbund AG - Österreichische Elektrizitätswirtschafts-AG.
The proceeds of this transaction will be used among others to refinance the cash portion of the acquisition of 13 hydro power plants in Germany for which Verbund signed a purchase contract with E.ON in June 2009.
Calyon, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley and Raiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich are the joint bookrunners of the bond which was 6-times oversubscribed.
It is the first time Calyon acted as a joint bookrunner on the issue of an Austrian Corporate Bond.
Verbund, the largest producer and transporter of electricity in Austria, is one of the leading hydropower producers and also one of the most profitable energy utilities in Europe. With approx. 2,500 employees, Verbund generates annual sales of more than EUR 3 billion.
