Crédit Agricole CIB teams up with BIC to recycle pens

Crédit Agricole CIB has teamed up with BIC to put into place a long-term drive to collect used pens. Collections began on November 21, 2011.
All ballpoint pens, felt-tip pens, mechanical pencils, correctors, markers and highlighters can be recovered (but not wooden pencils), regardless of their make or the materials used in them.

A company, TerraCycle*, will recycle these writing implements that will be transformed into watering cans, pencil holders, plastic waste baskets, etc. Once these have been used in turn, these products can be sent back to TerraCycle.

For each writing implement collected, two euro cents will be paid to the employees’ association Water for the Sahel.

* TerraCycle is a company whose ambition is to eliminate the concept of waste by creating collection networks and recycling and “trans-cycling” solutions for everything that currently ends up in our waste baskets. With a network of more than 24 million people in 15 countries, the company has already recovered billions of units of waste from landfill sites. This waste is then trans-cycled or recycled into more than 200 products already available in the largest chains in the United States such as Wal-Mart and Whole Foods Market.
TerraCycle has become one of the world’s fastest-growing eco-capitalistic companies.
