Crédit Agricole CIB celebrates the fifth anniversary of the Finance and Sustainable Development Chair

The Finance and Sustainable Development Chair, a result of the partnership between Crédit Agricole CIB, EDF and the University of Paris Dauphine, celebrated its fifth anniversary on December 6, 2011.

The Finance and Sustainable Development Chair, a result of the partnership between Crédit Agricole CIB, EDF and the University of Paris Dauphine, celebrated its fifth anniversary on December 6, 2011.
The event was held at the EDF premises in Clamart in the presence of the managers of EDF R&D and the Crédit Agricole CIB Sustainable Development mission. The researchers and professors provided a progress report and presented their projects.

Since the creation of the Chair in 2006, its scientific activities and related research initiatives have been developed, intensified and diversified at a sustained pace. All of these research programs are anchored in economic reality and include, for example:

  • mean field games (MFG) model, developed to provide mathematical methods adapted to the modeling of economic externalities, making it possible to develop varied applications relating to commodities and the economics of non-renewable resources,
  • research on ecological interest rates and the economics of climate risk,
  • work on induced emissions for a corporate and investment bank as a function of the sector and geographic breakdown of its activity.

The model of the University of Paris Dauphine’s Finance and Sustainable Development Chair has inspired numerous research initiatives financed by the private sector with some 30 chairs having been launched on a variety of subjects.

“The cross-disciplinary nature of the Chair, which was unheard of at its creation, has resulted in an interdisciplinary space open to the exchange of views and the reflections of leading-edge mathematicians, economists and physicists. A key example of the concrete application of these reflections can be seen in the work of Pacifica and Astrium on innovative harvest insurance products within the context of a project associated with the Chair. Exchanges between academia and the corporate world make it possible to increase production and attract excellent researchers while increasing the sphere of influence of the University of Paris Dauphine and providing high-quality teaching programs,” says Jean-Michel Lasry, Chairman of the Chair’s Steering Committee and a scientific advisor to Crédit Agricole CIB management.

Crédit Agricole CIB has supported research since 2006 with the Finance and Sustainable Development Chair, in the public interest and of long-term utility.

“Crédit Agricole CIB is a Chair’s loyal and prestigious partner,” says Pierre-Louis Lions, Chairman of the Chair’s Scientific Board.
