Calyon hosts a VIP Day for student winners of the 2009 Trading Games
On Friday, June 5, Calyon hosted the winners of the 2009 Trading Games, about 15 students from France’s grandes écoles, for a VIP Day. The day was filled with lively discussion, and featured several conference sessions. Students explored the investment bank’s business lines (aircraft finance, investment banking, risk management) and attended presentations on the year’s major deals, and, perhaps most usefully of all, a typical day at Calyon, giving them a realistic idea of their future professional life. The presenters conveyed a sense of their day-to-day experiences through vivid anecdotes, adding considerable interest to the business line descriptions.
The day wrapped up with a visit to Calyon’s trading room, the center of capital markets activities, where the students soaked up the energized atmosphere.

This is the second year in a row that the winners of the Trading Games, of which Calyon is an active partner, have gathered for VIP Day. In 2009, Calyon sponsored four Trading Games in its partner schools. The principle of the game: starting with a defined paper portfolio, the students compete to achieve, individually or collectively, the biggest gains in a real stock market.
Calyon is active in many other student forums and events throughout the year. Upcoming events are listed in the events calendar.
"The day puts students in direct contact with Calyon managers, who talk to them about the concrete aspects of their working life and business specializations. This allows the students to think practically about their future careers.
This special day is just one part of Calyon’s efforts to bring real-world educational content to students. In addition to traditional forums and presentations, Calyon’s managers collaborate with teaching staff at the targeted schools, leading class sessions and providing case studies to put students in professional situations."
Judicaël Tracoulat, Campus Manager International, Calyon.
