Timothée Duprat: "I was seeking a position with a group offering a real work-study policy"

Timothée Duprat discusses his mission within the scope of a professional training contract with Crédit Agricole CIB, working on Quality-Methods-Reporting cross-disciplinary teams in the Global IT business line.

Can you describe your path prior to joining Crédit Agricole CIB?

I was admitted to the EFREI Engineering School (in Villejuif, south of Paris) in 2007 for a 2-year comprehensive preparatory programme. In 2009, the school launched a work-study programme for 3rd-year students, an option that caught my attention. I used this opportunity to begin my apprenticeship with Crédit Agricole CIB as of my "Licence" degree studies. Upon completion of this one-year internship, I was offered the chance to pursue a professional training contract with the firm for the last two years of my programme, extending through end of August 2012.

Which position do you currently hold with Crédit Agricole CIB?

I'm still working with the Quality-Methods-Reporting cross-disciplinary teams as part of the Global IT business line. My current team is responsible for publishing indicators that compare across all electronic information production services; our 3-member unit includes my immediate supervisor and another work-study trainee.

What are your primary missions?

I help generate and produce the monthly/weekly set of comparative indicators intended for information production managers or operational teams. My assignment consists of recovering, extracting and compiling data as a preliminary step to publishing the ultimate indicators. The information transmitted via these indicators assists managers in overseeing their activities or the computer services teams in diagnosing then improving processes, incident resolution and performance.
I'm also asked to respond to one-off reporting requests focusing on targeted topics.

Moreover, I've participated in monitoring reporting-related projects as well as writing specifications. For one such project, we conducted a series of some 30 interviews in order to survey reporting needs.

What do you enjoy most about your work-study mission with the Bank?

My mission with Crédit Agricole CIB does not solely involve technical knowledge, but encompasses methodology and strategic reflection as well. From this vantage point, the mission is fully complementary to my studies. The actual tasks assigned are varied and flexible, allowing me to acquire a comprehensive view of the organisation.
I have become more independent in my daily work routine and appreciate the growing level of trust I'm being shown. Requiring at first a large amount of oversight, I'm now sending the weekly indicators to teams on my own.

As an aside, the excellent relationships developed with team members have definitely convinced me to extend my work-study contract with this same group.

Why did you choose Crédit Agricole CIB?

I decided to apply to Crédit Agricole CIB following a presentation of the Group delivered at my school. I was seeking a position with a group offering a real work-study policy. I don't regret my decision one at all; I'm receiving outstanding training here.
