Testimony: "Since joining Calyon, my learning curve has increased constantly"
Testimony of Ruggero Pietrafesa Mendicini, Account Manager, working in the Shipping Finance Department in London (Structured Finance)
What are your main duties in your job?
My day to day responsibilities are to address clients' needs in terms of financing for their fleet expansion projects. Calyon has more than 30 years of experience in this field and has financed more than one thousand bulk carriers, crude oil tankers, product tankers, cruise ships, ferries and many other types of vessels worldwide. Moreover, beyond the pure financing aspects, we administrate the existing loan portfolio, which has to be constantly monitored.

What secrets of success have you learned in your time here?
I had the great opportunity to work on several key projects that have been handled directly by our department in London. I believe that there are no secrets for success, however, what makes the difference in the current highly competitive labour market is to be passionate and motivated in all your challenges, have the ability to work in a team and build a strong knowledge in the industry you are involved with.

If you could tell one thing about your career, what would it be?
Since joining Calyon two years ago, my learning curve has increased constantly. I work with a team of seven specialists who deal with shipping companies, mainly in North America, Russia, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and Monaco. My focus is on Italian companies, even though most of them are based outside of Italy.
