Since 15 October 2008, Jean-Paul Betbèze is Head of Economic Research and member of Crédit Agricole S.A. Group's Executive Committee.

Jean-Paul Betbèze started out in a university career as Professor of Paris University-Panthéon-Assas from 1974 to 1990.
Then from 1990 to 2003, he worked as Head of Economic and Financial Research for Crédit Lyonnais, where he was also Head of Strategy from 1995 to 2001. From July 2003 until April 2005, he was advisor to the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A.

Jean-Paul Betbèze is a member of the Economic Analysis Advisory Council to the French Prime Minister and of the National Economic Committee. He is also a member of the Cercle des Economistes and the International Conference of Commercial Bank Economists.

In May 2005, he was appointed Head of the Economic Research Division and Chief Economist of Crédit Agricole S.A., and Economic Advisor to the CEO of Crédit Agricole S.A.

Jean-Paul Betbèze is a graduate of HEC International Business School and has a postgraduate diploma in organisational science. He holds a PhD in economics and is a tenured professor.
