Iryna Voronova: "Crédit Agricole CIB encourages creativity and motivates both professional and personal development"

Iryna Voronova, Associate in the Structured Finance Agency and Middle Office team in New York describes her missions and gives her vision of Crédit Agricole CIB.

What have been your studies and professional experiences prior to your current position?

I graduated from Hofstra University, New York City, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business. In 2006, right after graduation, I began my journey with Crédit Agricole CIB working as a junior analyst in the Lodging Group. In 2008, I joined a newly created Structured Finance Agency & Middle Office team where I was promoted to an Associate position.

Can you describe your main responsibilities?

This team plays two key roles: one as administrative agent for transactions in which Crédit Agricole CIB is a lead bank in a group of other participating banks, and another as Middle Office for transactions in which Crédit Agricole CIB is a participating bank.
I have an assigned deal portfolio that consists of loan transactions booked in the United States area for hotels, real estate development, wind and gas power plants, and aviation companies. My main role is to aid in the smooth closing of new transactions and monitoring of existing ones during their various development stages. As an administrative agent, I perform comprehensive covenant monitoring to ensure borrower compliance with credit documentation. I coordinate amendment and waiver processes when certain provisions in the contract need to be changed. I follow projects’ progress and provide information to the participating banks. I have direct interaction with the clients, front office, back office, syndicate lenders, and other external parties (lawyers, independent engineers, insurance consultants, etc.). I constantly work on internal ad hoc projects which make my day even more interesting and challenging.

What skills and qualities are required for your position?

Good communication and interpersonal skills are key qualities for this job since we interact with various external and internal parties. Prioritisation, critical thinking, and organisation skills are important because we manage a large portfolio of complex transactions on a daily basis.

What is your schedule for a normal day of work?

Every day is different in my team and that is why my normal day schedule varies. One day I can participate in a closing of a new transaction, and another day I can coordinate an amendment for an existing transaction, sometimes both at the same time. At month end, I monitor my transactions in the internal system and make sure that all my borrowers are on time with their contractual obligations. Upon review of the borrowers’ financials and reporting deliverables, I distribute them to the participating banks.
