Georges Pauget, chairman of Calyon

Biography

Georges Pauget was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A. on 12 September 2005, Chairman of LCL-Le Crédit Lyonnais in November 2005 and Chairman of Calyon in May 2007.

Georges Pauget has built his career within the Crédit Agricole Group. He first joined Caisse régionale*  de l’Aude in 1973, and moved to Caisse Nationale de Crédit Agricole (CNCA) in Paris where he fulfilled a number of successive positions: Auditor, Project Manager within the Control and Audit Department and then Corporate Secretary with the Executive Office.
Between 1984 and 1985, he joined Unicrédit as Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

In 1985, he moved back to the provinces and was successively appointed Chief Executive Officer for Caisse régionale de Haute Saône et du Territoire de Belfort (1985/1987), Chief Executive Officer for Caisse régionale des Pyrénées-Atlantiques (1987/1992) then Chief Executive Officer for Caisse régionale de Pyrénées Gascogne (1992/2002). Between the years 1997 and 2002, he was also Chairman of Bankoa S.A.

He was appointed Senior General Manager (January to December 2003) then Deputy Chief Executive Officer (December 2003 to September 2005) at Crédit Agricole S.A. in charge of the Regional Banks and Insurance Business Segment. From between December 2003 and November 2005, he also was Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Lyonnais.

As director, he has also sat on the Board of Valeo since April 2007, as well as being a member of the Fédération Bancaire Française’s Executive Committee since October 2005.

Born in 1947, Georges Pauget holds a PhD in Economics and has been decorated Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.
