The Sustainable Banking team

In 2010, a team was created within the Coverage & Investment Banking division of Credit Agricole CIB, with the objective to better assist our key clients for environmentally-friendly or socially-responsible transactions: the Sustainable Banking team.

The team meets the growing needs of Crédit Agricole CIB clients for access to financial advice about projects aimed at both financial profitability and social impact (poverty reduction, job creation in disadvantaged areas, environmental footprint minimisation, etc.) The terms “impact investment” and “double bottom-line investment” are sometimes used.

The unit assists the Bank’s clients in arranging these transactions, helps the business lines acting in this field and works closely with Crédit Agricole group entities. Thanks to the synergy thus developed, it constitutes a center of expertise on responsible investment within the investment bank.

The Sustainable Banking team is currently working on several projects aimed at reducing poverty through viable economic approaches. In addition, within the framework of the G20 presided by France, it advised the French Development Agency on structuring hedges for agricultural prices in developing countries. The purpose of this effort is to reduce the agricultural-price volatility that threatens food security.

Crédit Agricole CIB is proud to have developed this team and pleased with its recent successes, proof of the key role given to environmental and social considerations in its investment banking businesses.
