Calyon mandated joint lead arranger for the offshore FRN issued by SK Telecom

Calyon successfully acted as lead arranger, together with DBS Bank, Natixis and Chinatrust Commercial Bank, for SK Telecom’s USD 220 million offshore floating rate notes (“FRN”) issuance in April 2009. The FRN issuance features a 3-year bullet maturity with funds used for general corporate purposes of the company. Calyon committed USD 50 million in the FRN.

Leveraging a long and fruitful relationship with SK Telecom, Calyon played an important role in originating, structuring and arranging the FRN transaction. This deal is a replicate deal of another USD 150 million FRN of the company that closed in November 2008, arranged by Calyon and DBS Bank.

Before that, Calyon introduced SK Telecom to the International financial market through a USD 100 million 7-year syndicated term facility raised in 2006. Calyon was mandated lead arranger and bookrunner as well as the facility agent.

Established in 1984, SK Telecom is the leading mobile telecommunications provider in South Korea. Its core business is mobile voice and wireless internet. SK Telecom is also the controlling shareholder in SK Broadband - formerly Hanarotelecom – South Korea's second largest fixed line operator.
