Calyon acted as financial advisor to Vivendi in its acquisition of Brazilian operator Global Village Telecom (GVT). Vivendi acquired 37.9% of GVT as well as irrevocable options to buy an additional 19.6% of GVT’s shares.

This transaction is in line with Vivendi’s strategic objective to increase its exposure to fast-growing economies.

For several years, Calyon and Vivendi have been involved in an intense strategic dialogue on opportunities to buy telecom assets in high-growth regions.
