Commodities, a one-stop shop with 20 years of experience

Crédit Agricole CIB has been a key player in the commodities business for over 20 years. The primary business focus is in the energy and metals markets where it is a renowned market maker. It provides investors with innovative financial products indexed to commodities, adjustable to the institutional market needs. In 2009, Crédit Agricole CIB signed a partnership agreement with EDF Trading to broaden its range of products.

A complete range of products

Through its knowledge of the spot market, derivatives and credit evaluation, the product line offers an extensive line of corporate risk management solutions, customised for clients' hedging needs, ad-hoc or integrated within structured finance products. Crédit Agricole CIB also offers innovative commodity-linked investment products to the entire spectrum of investors, which can be tailored to suit the needs of the retail to the institutional markets.

Market maker for energy and metals

The Commodities business line is a major market maker for a complete range of energy indices (oil and refined products, US natural gas and energy emissions), metals (precious and base metals with notably the passage in CAT II membership on the LME) and also soft and agricultural assets since the opening of the desk in January 2008.

In 2009, the activity of the business line has been broadened on the energy with the partnership with EDF Trading. This partnership allows Crédit Agricole CIB to position in Europe on the physical markets of electricity, gas and coal.

The Commodities team is fully integrated to the Bank. With 65 professionals, it is organised around the trading, sales, structuring, and quantitative activities. The business line is present in eight major financial centers: Geneva, Hong Kong, Houston, London, New York, Paris, Milan and Beijing.

It has a dedicated research team comprised of renowned analysts on the metal and energy markets.
